Wanting more independence is reasonable. So is taking the time to build it. Start with something practical you can assess: the equipment, its fit and how you use it.

Check where the leash clips

The attachment point changes where your guidance reaches your dog. A back ring sits behind the shoulders. A front ring puts that connection at the chest, where it can help guide the dog toward you when you change direction.

Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs. Match that measurement to the chart. Choose by fit rather than breed or weight.
